Centenary Hosts Full STEAM Ahead Educator Symposium Feb 27-28

SHREVEPORT, LA — The deadline is approaching to register for the Full STEAM Ahead Educator Symposium to be held at Centenary College February 27-28, 2025. All education professionals are invited to attend the symposium entitled “To Boldly Go,” hosted by Centenary’s Department of Education and Center for Teaching and Learning.

This is the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) symposium’s second year at Centenary College.  It is designed to provide professional development and networking opportunities for education professionals, whether they teach, support people who teach or aspire to teach. Educators across disciplines and grade levels will be exposed to innovative teaching strategies and cutting-edge research.

“At this year’s symposium, we are thinking about the courage it takes to be bold and adventurous in our teaching: To go where we haven’t gone before,” said Dr. Rachel Johnson, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. “We have presenters who will share methods for blending strategies from across disciplines to ignite students’ curiosity and creativity. I love learning from other educators and, last year, I had the pleasure of connecting with so many inspiring teachers from the Shreveport-Bossier area. I’m looking forward to that, again, this year.”

Here is a snapshot of the 2025 program schedule and sessions.  Some of the topics cover classroom management, Artificial Intelligence in public education, using drones for spatial awareness, video analysis, exploring historical narratives through active learning and more.

The 2025 keynote speaker is Joel Amidon, Ph.D.  He is the co-host of , Teaching Math Teaching and Road to Better Teaching podcasts. He is also a vice president of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators. Amidon’s keynote address is called "Teaching STEAM as Agape: Embracing STEAM Education as an Act of Unconditional Love for our Students and our World.”
