SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College’s annual Founders’ Day convocation was held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, and honored numerous faculty and staff for their service and dedication to the college. Dr. Christopher Holoman, President of Centenary College, and Dr. Karen Soul, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, announced service pins for faculty and staff along with several special annual awards.
Dr. Kyra Rietveld, Assistant Professor of Art History, was bestowed the Charlton H. Lyons Award which encourages scholarly research, writing, and performance by a Centenary College faculty member. Dr. Rietveld’s project will investigate the use of images of Artemis of Ephesus on ancient Mediterranean coins and the impact on cult practices and cultural identities.
Mr. Ricki Rebollar-Becerra, Director of Student Involvement received the President’s Excellence Award which recognizes superior service to Centenary College.
Dr. Andia Augustin-Billy, Associate Professor of French and Francophone Studies earned the Outstanding Faculty Award for being an excellent teacher, advisor, mentor and leader.

The 2025 Founders’ Day Convocation speakers included Edward J. Crawford III, a member of the College’s Board of Trustees since 1991; Dr. Jefferson Hendricks ‘75, a Centenary alumnus and faculty member for over 40 years; Cheredith Rhone ‘17, Centenary alumna; and Tuyen Chau ’25, a current student. The four speakers shared their reflections on how Centenary influenced them and affected their lives.
